SGA Icons 104 Thirty Eight Minutes For SGA Rewind (First Group)
This is my first group of Icons for Thirty Eight Minutes. The second batch is mainly Sheppard and should be posted soon. I have posted three icons from this group in larger size. They are all up for grabs. Please Enjoy.
Strong work!!!
BTW.. couple things I noticed playing w/ PhotoShop Elements... try making a duplicate layer, then turn off visibility for the actual background (original) image.. that way you can get the transparency for whatever bakground you'd like to use. If you have a relatively uncomplicated background to remove that is VERY different from what you wanna keep, that magic eraser can be a big help. Sometimes it helps to use the blur brush to blend in a bit, but that only works if your new background is a bright color or not very much darker than your image, otherwise you might get kind of a haze around the image.
Re: Strong work!!!
I have been using the blur brush and the burn and dodge tools extensively. They aren't all that different from their dark room counter parts. Design theory works the same, which is very comforting. And photoshop allows for easy experimentation, especially with colors. I take my time finding the shade I want, just a slight variation can make an image really pop.
I will try your suggestion tomorrow. My next area of experimentation is going to be color gradients. Which is why I need to solve the problem we were talking about at 'Mexico Lindo.' I've been putting off learning how to use masks, but I can already see how useful they are going to be. Maybe I should actually consider reading the manual you gave me. I also want to experiment with various diaphanous effects. But that is for another day.
Thanks for all the help and encouragement.
Re: Strong work!!!
Glad you like it... I take it you noticed the interesting collection of backgrounds in PhotoShop Elements?
(You get more of 'em if you buy the thing & register it...) I did that blurring thing w/ the edges that I was telling you about... works best if you don't have very much lighter or darker tones in the background.
Oh, yeah, try playing with transparency in your layers.. you can get some very cool effects that way!
Manual... D'you have my old Photoshop text?? Was wondering where it had gone to..!
Still not sure what to tell you re the brush indicator colors... my best thought says to check in Preferences.. but I'm always hesitant to switch stuff around there, as it tends to wanna stay that way well past when you needed it..
