Up Up and Away

I loved the new movie 'Up'.  Just go see it.  Pixar has done it again.   The Oaks Theatre had a 3-D showing, and charged $3.00  extra for the glasses..  Be sure to be on time for this movie because a Pixar Short film called 'Partly Cloudy'  opens the showing.   The 3-D was 'way cool' as Momcat would say.

First Attempt

Well this was my first attempt to post links. I haven't figured out how to name the link rather than the URL. But I did manage to get the cuts correct. (sort of) Ann Tara since I'm linking to adult material do I need to put an adult warning on my journal. Or what is the custom in this situation?

I don't think there's any hard and fast rule. You could either make slight mention of it in your post, that would be more than sufficient. Something like a general, "Here are links to stories/artwork I like, slash, rating PG-13 to R". Or in the description for each link, which is helpful (example: "John/Rodney/Ronon Threesome, PG-13").

Linking to Slash

The obvious thing to do is just include the slash recs in a locked post. The difficulty is that several Saeobs who are interested in the information don't have Livejorunals. Several are confirmed lurkers, and find having an Lj a daunting prospect, others don't even know what Lj is. I'm trying to get the group members who might enjoy them at least aware of the discussion that is going on.

Thanks for the heads up..!

Yeah, "Up" looked good... guess I'll have to go see it... especially if I get to wear those funny glasses, LOL!

But then, you know I'm an animation freak and LOVE Pixar!

You can borrow my glasses and save three bucks on the ticket. Actually the glasses are cool in a geeky sort of way.

The movie reminded me a little of the Disney film 'Bolt', but with a different sensibility. I don't want to spoil your surprise, it is such an interesting film not as manic as some of the other Pixar efforts. It's theme is more reminiscent of a Hayao Miyazaki's film. Thoughtful and strange at times, and yet very much an American film. The major theme appealed to me, but I want you to see the film before we discuss that.

Okay, found this today. I need to consolodate or something as I had to go to different places to get it. This post did not come into my normal email to inform me you had updated. But looked you up in favorites. I will try to see UP sometime soon, but haven't planned when. I haven't clicked on your links as yet to see what is out there. Been hitting ann_tara's as you know to see what is now out there in Trek and other areas. So will see you Friday for breakfast.

Where did they go

I don't think you will get any notification when I respond to Momcat or to Ann Tara. You can see us in your friend's page and read us there (Ann Tara might know another way). You must log-in to see Momcat's posts, my posts and Ann Tara's posts if they are locked, otherwise we will be invisible to you. You need to tell LJ that it is you looking at your own journal, otherwise we won't show up. Ann Tara has a better grasp of all this than I do so she can explain in better.

I'm in the process of posting links on my 'favorite places' sidebar. These are the places I visit almost daily. I feel like I'm just starting to get the hang of Lj though I'm still confusion about image posting.

Re links...

Having actually read one of your linked stories, I'm gonna say that you'd best either lock this post or warn that it links to adult content.. very adult content...

That said, I will reiterate what I said at dinner -- I can now check this off my "Things to do before I die" list. I can't say that it appealed all that much; the writing was OK -- good sentence structure/ spelling/ grammar. I'm not familiar enough with the characters to say whether they nailed it; I'm not familiar enough with what gay men do with each other to tell if they nailed that either (although it does sound plausible and physically possible, LOL!! As erotica it didn't do much for me at all -- you know I've got somewhat of a romantic streak in me, and that story didn't do it for me.

So there it is... guess I'll just have to read the occasional bodice-ripper, like everyone else, LOL!!
